Rawlins Reveals Plans
Austin Aztex President Phil Rawlins met with a number of budding football stars in Texas earlier this week.
Rawlins, along with other members of the Aztex spoke with the players and gave a presentation to show the opportunities which exist following the link up with the Potters.
Tryouts for the newly formed American side are fast approaching, and the City Director told the hopefuls everyone starts on an equal footing.
Saying: "It is a clean piece of paper, no one has the inside track.
"We have no preconceived notions of who will be on the team.
"We are looking for the best talent we can find, and everyone has an equal chance."
Also on the agenda was a discussion regarding a potential new stadium for the team, and he didn't rule out two separate arena's for both the Under 23's and the first team.
"We probably don't want to put the under 23s in a 20,000 seat stadium," he said.
"We will look at and explore all the different avenues available to us. We want the stadium to create a great atmosphere for everyone.
"We are currently in discussions regarding the stadium, so hopefully in the near future we can make an announcement."
The Aztex also revealed at the meeting that the club has received over 30 applications for Head Coach of the team and almost 20 applications for Assistant Coach.
Also announced to the potential players was the news that the Aztex hopes to forge a link with a professional, top Mexican side.
