"Mr Dependable" signed for City at the age of 19 after writing to then Manager Frank Taylor to ask for a trial.

After helping City to win the Second Division Title in 1963 and a League Cup runners'-up medal in 1964, Skeels signed for Port Vale in 1976 and onto Leek Town before retiring from professional football.
