Bad Aussee 1 Stoke City 2
BAD AUSSEE 1 (Hofer, 24)
STOKE CITY 2 (Pulis 35, Pericard 37)
Goals from Anthony Pulis and Vincent Pericard ensured City's unbeaten record continued during pre-season.
The hosts took the lead in the 24th minute, but two goals in as many minutes secured City a win ahead of the glamour tie with Real Madrid.
Steve Simonsen saved a late penalty and produced a number of good saves in the dying stages.
The match started frantically and the Potters should have taken the lead as early as the fourth minute, however Peter Sweeney volleyed over after Ricardo Fuller beat his man on the right wing.
Tony Pulis' side dominated dominated early on and Sweeney's ball fell straight to John Eustace, but his shot was mistimed.
Just minutes later Fuller's ambitious 25-yard curling effort was magnificently palmed away by the outstretched keeper, before he reacted quickest to save well from Vincent Pericard.
The hosts finally managed an assault on City's goal, but Steve Simonsen calmly watched the ball fly past his far post.
The game gradually died down following its frantic opening until Bad Aussee took the lead through Hofer in the 24th minute.
A slip up in the City backline allowed a cross ball to be played before the midfielder fired it past Simonsen into the right hand corner.
Jamaican international Fuller then took off on a one-man mission to level the scorelines, but after beating three men he fired his shot straight at the goalkeeper.
City finally grabbed a deserved equaliser ten minutes before the half time interval when Pulis sweetly connected with a 20-yard volley which flew into the bottom corner.
Barely two minutes later the Potters were ahead. Neat play by Fuller led to Sweeney firing across a dangerous ball which Pericard tapped home.
Eustace could have made it three just before half time, but fired his shot over with the goal at his mercy.
With seconds of the opening half remaining Sweeney tried his luck from range, but the ball curled just wide of the top left hand corner.
Fuller was subbed for Adam Rooney five minutes before half time, however he isn't believed to have received an injury.
Straight from the re-start substitute Jon Parkin attempted to lob the keeper from 35-yards, but he got back in time to tip it over the bar.
The 'Beast' again went close seconds later but his shot cannoned back of the right hand post.
Clint Hill and Aussee striker Adolph Wakui were both asked to leave the pitch in the 53rd minute following a minor fracas by the halfway line.
The Austrian second division side almost levelled on the hour, but the 30-yard free kick deflected on to the post.
City number one Simonsen was rarely threatened in the second half, however he comfortably saved a long range strike from Hofer.
The home side were awarded a last minute penalty after Pulis was adjudged to have tripped their striker in the box.
But City keeper Simonsen saved well down to his left, before Pulis made amends by blocking a goal bound effort off the line.
