Glenn's Premier Aim
City's latest capture Glenn Whelan has immediately targeted promotion following his January Deadline Day signing from Sheffield Wednesday.
Whelan completed a £500,000 move to the Britannia Stadium late last night and has already set his sights on getting the club up into the Premier League.
"When you look at any team, if you can put a good run together you can shoot up the league," Glenn told Stoke City World.
"Stoke's no different, if you get some good results you never know what can happen but hopefully we can do it!
"Speaking to the club last night, they tell me that they are hoping to move on and go for promotion this season.
"I'm no different, I want to play as high as I can and hopefully we can do it this year."
The former Manchester City trainee arrived at the ground late last night as soon as he was allowed to speak to the club and didn't even have time to bring his boots for training this morning.
But the 24 year old, who played against the Potters in the Owls 4-2 win in October, is just relieved to have completed the deal before the window closed at midnight.
"I got the phone call late on last night and shot down here to get the deal done," Whelan said.
"I just think that on Wednesday's side they didn't want to deal with players leaving before they got players in.
"It was a little bit of a rush but it went through and I'm delighted now."
The Irish "B" international now turns his attention to tomorrow's game with Cardiff City, having already played against the Bluebirds this campaign.
"I was there only a couple of weeks ago with Wednesday," Glenn revealed.
"It was a tough game, we lost it 1-0 as they're on a good run at the moment but hopefully we can go out tomorrow and get a good result."
"Stoke have been doing really well this year and it's upto me now to work hard, get my head down and get into the starting eleven."
"Hopefully I can come in and try to impress the manager in training and hopefully get into the team."
