City are set to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jay Bothroyd on an initial one month loan.

The 25-year old could link up with the squad at their base in St Albans today ahead of tomorrow's top of the table clash against Watford, where he would be eligible to play if the paperwork is completed in time.

The pacy striker was groomed through the highly successful Arsenal Academy, before moving to Coventry City for £100,000.

After a productive three year spell with the Sky Blues, where he finished top scorer in the 2002/03 season with eleven goals from 27 starts, he moved on to Italian Serie A side Perugia.

He failed to settle in Italy though, and joined Premier League side Blackburn Rovers on a season long loan in 2004.

It was fellow top flight side Charlton though who won the battle to his signature following his spell back in England, joining on a free transfer.

After 25 games for the Addicks, Wolves boss Mick McCarthy stepped in and signed him up on a three year contract in July, 2006.

Jay got off to the perfect start at Molineux and immediately endeared himself to the Wolves faithful by scoring a screamer on his debut against Ipswich Town.

This season he has proven he has what it takes in the big games by scoring against Bristol City, Charlton and co-incidentally Watford.

Jay will wear the number 29 shirt for his loan spell.
