Jay Loving City Life
New signing Jay Bothroyd admits he feels right at home in the Potteries after penning a loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers two weeks ago.
The 25-year-old striker has been involved in both of City's last two games, the goalless draw at Watford and Saturday's 1-1 stalemate with Blackpool, and admits he is loving life at the Britannia Stadium.
"It's good, everyone's welcomed me," he told Stoke City World.
"There's a great set of lads and the banter is good and there's a great atmosphere around the dressing room.
"There's Lenny (Liam Lawrence) and Dom Matteo and it's like I've been here for a couple of seasons.
"I'm not the quiet boy sitting in the corner like sometimes you are when you go to places.
"Everyone's welcomed me - the coaches and the staff.
"The fans have been good and cheered my name as well so that was great."
Jay has singled out Tony Pulis, saying he has heard nothing but praise for the Welshman, and insists he will be going out to get goals and prove himself to the City boss.
"I want to work with the gaffer - I've heard really good things about him.
"I want to score a few goals as well and play a part in this season.
"Ric's suspended and Mama's carrying an injury so I've kind of come in to take their place I suppose.
"Am I relishing the opportunity? Of course I am, I want to show everyone what I am capable of."
The former England Under 21 international, who played against the likes of Paolo Maldini and Kaka during his Serie A days with Perugia, believes his current team have what it takes to get promotion and face the big stars in England's top flight next season.
"I want to help get Stoke to the Premiership, that's why I came here.
"There's a lot of expectancy now because of where we are in the league and I want to help us achieve what we believe we can."
