Gordon's Hope
Former Stoke City and England legend Gordon Banks admits he is desperate to see the Potters back in the top flight, after a 23-year absence.
The goalkeeping great spoke exclusively to Stoke City World this morning, following the announcement of a monument in his honour, and believes now is City's time to get back in to the big time.
"It would be absolutely brilliant for the club to get back in to the top division of english football," said Gordon.
"To have the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal coming here again would be fantastic for the area and Stoke City.
"There is still a long way to go though, but like any other fan I am desperate for them to get promoted.
"It is so nerve wracking on a Saturday afternoon, and you just pray for a win. The manager has done a fantastic job, as have the players and the backroom staff, so hopefully that can be rewarded with promotion next month."
This morning's press conference at the Britannia Stadium revealed the plans for the three piece statue, as well as announcing that Brazilian legend Pele would unveil phase one of the tribute.
And Gordon says he never ever believed anything like this would happen: "I never ever saw it coming to be honest with you," he smiled.
"When I was playing all them years ago I was just happy to have a professional contract and to be playing every week.
"Did I ever believe I would have a statue in honour of me, no I didn't.
"This isn't just about me though, it is also to remember all of the other goalkeeping greats who have played the game."
