Matteo's Mission
Dominic Matteo is calling on City supporters to rock the Britannia tomorrow as the Potters aim to move in to an automatic promotion spot.
Three points for Tony Pulis' side against promotion rivals Bristol City could see us move in to either first or second place, and Matteo insists the fans have a massive part to play.
"They've been absolutely fantastic all year, turning out every single week home and away," he told Stoke City World.
"It's so important now that the team and the fans stick together for the final push, and hopefully we can get to where we all want to be, playing against all the top teams in the Premier League.
"I'm sure the fans will see this as the biggest game in a long time.
"Believe me we are extremely motivated to win. It would be especially nice to get one over on Bristol after the result at their place.
"Not that we need any more motivation. We need the points to climb into the top two and they are in the same situation."
Matteo, who has been sidelined since November, is adamant his teammates have what it takes to hold their nerve as the season draws to an exciting close.
"We have players with big game experience so hopefully that will give us the edge. Experience, along with consistency and quality, are key factors in a promotion push.
"We have a real incentive to do it this year after what happened last season. I remember how gutted we all were at QPR last May.
"It was a bad feeling and we don't want that to happen again. I think the gaffer felt it worse than anyone.
"We all felt bad but I remember seeing his face and he was sick as a pig. We want to do it for him because he has done a fantastic job in getting us where we are. Especially if you look where we were when he took over."
