Ryan's Rallying Call
City defender Ryan Shawcross believes the fans can be a massive influence on the players during this weekends crucial clash against Leicester City.
24,475 supporters were present during the Potters' last match at the Britannia Stadium, the 2-1 defeat of Bristol City, with even more expected inside for Sunday's encounter.
"It's going to be a packed house and a really good game," said Ryan.
"When you're at home and you've got so many fans behind you can't be nervous because you've got all of them on your side and the ref may go in your favour because there are so many fans.
"It's really good when you have a full house, the fans will spur us on on Sunday and hopefully we can win it for them."
Shawcross was rewarded for his performances this season by picking up the Young Player of the Year award at this past week's awards evening and admits it been a great first year with the Potters.
"I've enjoyed my first season. It's nice to get an award like this.
"It's been going well and hopefully we'll finish it off in style on Sunday.
"I was a nobody when Tony Pulis took a chance on me so I owe him a lot.
"When I first came I just hoped to play a few first team games then go back to United but things change and I'm enjoying my time here.
"I've learnt lots, like the experience of playing against the sort of players I've played against in the Championship.
"But I've still got a lot to learn so I'll knuckle down and keep working hard.
"It's been a tough but I've enjoyed it and hopefully I we can end it in style now."
Ryan received his third call up to the England Under 21 set up yesterday, and admits he is delighted with the news.
"Obviously i'm very happy. It will be my third time with them now and I have settled in well with the lads.
"It's great to receive international call ups and shows I must be doing something right.
"For now though my mind is focussed totally on Sunday and making sure we get the result we all so desperately want."
