The club are celebrating their historic promotion to the Premier League with an open-top bus tour of the City.

The Potters' return to the top flight was clinched at a packed Britannia Stadium on Sunday afternoon and next season will be the club's first in the Premier League, and the first in the top division since 1985.

To celebrate, the club has teamed up with Stoke-on-Trent City Council and will travel around the Staffordshire city today with thousands of supporters expected to line the streets.

The double-decker bus tour will end at the Britannia Stadium where thousands more fans are expected to see players and staff receive presentations from the local authority to mark the promotion achievement.

The night of celebrations will conclude with a civic reception held by the city council at the Britannia Stadium.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council's Elected Mayor, Mark Meredith, said, "Promotion to the Premiership is a fantastic achievement by everyone involved with Stoke City.

"The city council feels it is the least we can do to facilitate the open top bus tour so that thousands of people can line the streets to cheer on the players and staff.

"The fans have been absolutely fantastic.

"They have been there through thick and thin over the years and this is the reward for such great support.

"The presentations and civic reception at the Britannia Stadium is our way of marking this great occasion.

"Promotion not only enhances the image of the club but also that of the city, in the UK and all over the world."

Stoke-on-Trent Lord Mayor, Bagh Ali, added: "To have the honour of recognising the players and staff on behalf of the City and presenting them with a gift to mark their historic achievement, is one that fills me with great pride.

"This is a fantastic end to my year in office.

"Stoke City represent the hopes and dreams of thousands and thousands of the city's people, and promotion to the Premiership will be celebrated with great joy tonight, as it has been by Stokies all over the world since Sunday afternoon."
