City star Andy Wilkinson paid a special visit to school children at Park Hall Primary School this afternoon as they unveiled a brand new learning mentor room.

The school was voted as one of three winners in the Sentinel newspapers 'Class Act' competition, and as a result scooped a fantastic prize of £5,000 which was donated by the Barclays Bank.

Wilkinson, 23, along with several other workers from different professions spoke to children about their future careers, and headmistress Mrs Frost said it was a fantastic day.

"It really made the children's day by having a professional Premier League footballer here today.

"It was brilliant for the children to be able to speak and mix with businessmen from all different aspects of life including footballers, policemen and vicar's, because sometimes you don't get the chance to speak to people about their jobs.

"It was important for the children that they spoke to such a variety of people, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who turned up."
