Paul returned to the Britannia Stadium for a second time after completing a four month loan deal on the final day of the January Transfer Window.
Gallagher scored twelve goals in his last spell at the club, playing the majority of his games out on the left hand side.
The Scottish international spent the first few months of the 2007/08 season on loan at Championship rivals Preston North End but turned down a permanent move to the Lilywhites in favour of another crack at promotion with the Potters.
