City's reserves made it two on the bounce with a 3-1 victory away at Oldham last night.

Goals from Ryan Shotton, Lewis Buxton put the Potters two up before KC Owen pulled one back for the Latics.

The win was sealed in the final minute however, thanks to an own goal from the unfortunate Aaron Chalmers.

Mark O'Connor fielded a strong side for the Pontin's League clash, handing starts to Jon Parkin, John Eustace, Peter Sweeney, and handing a debut to Belgian new boy Richie De Laet.

City started the brighter of the two sides, but it was the hosts who created the first chance of the match.

Danzelle St. Louis-Hamilton had to be alert to thwart the lively Owen, while he was on hand to avert danger minutes later after a clever through ball almost freed Edwards.

However, it was the Potters who took the lead after just ten minutes. Sweeney met Rooney's clever cross with a powerful header, but Les Pogliacomi parried the ball away, until Shotton fired the ball in to the back of the net.

The hard working Sweeney, and Rooney both had chances to double the advantage minutes later, but neither could find the target.

Sweeney continued to impress and he turned provider after 17 minutes, when his corner was smashed home by Buxton from 8-yards.

Owen soon halved the deficit for the hosts, as he lashed home brilliantly from 25-yards.

Eustace tried his luck from range but the keeper was on hand to gather his stinging 20-yard effort.

Chances continued to be created by both sides, but neither could find the killer touch to put the ball in to the back of the net.

Neal Trotman almost brought Oldham level just after the restart but Hamilton reacted well to tip his header over the bar.

Rooney could have grabbed his first of the evening after 70 minutes, but Trotman was on hand to block his goal bound effort.

With the game looking certain to finish 2-1, O'Connor's side made It three in the final minute, thanks to Sweeney's deflected corner.
