COVENTRY CITY 2 (Cairo 66, Kyle 68)
STOKE CITY 0

City's second string sank to a 2-0 defeat at Coventry City last night thanks to second half goals from Ellery Cairo and sub Kevin Kyle.

Academy Coach Adrian Pennock travelled to the Ricoh Arena with a side mixed with youth and experience - Jon Parkin and Vincent Pericard were named up front while there were also places for Ritchie De Laet, Carl Dickinson and Nathaniel Wedderburn.

Arctic conditions saw a fairly even first half but it was Coventry who would break the deadlock on 66 minutes when Julian Gray's cross from the left wing saw Stephen Hughes striking at goal.

Hughes' attempt was blocked, however, but Dutchman Ellery Cairo was on hand to stab home from close range.

Just minutes later the home side doubled their lead when former Sunderland striker Kevin Kyle converted another Gray cross from the left.

City's most likely source of a goal was Demar Phillips, who tested the keeper on several occasions, as well as almost teeing up Tom Thorley with a low ball into the box.

Meanwhile, The Potters' cancelled away trip to Wolves, originally scheduled for last Tuesday, will now take place at Telford United on Wednesday 5th March 2008 (Kick Off 7pm)
