Stoke City 1 Shrewsbury Town 2
City's second eleven slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury Town in this afternoon's Pontins Holiday's League clash at the Lyme Valley Stadium.
Jamaican international Demar Phillips clinically fired the Potters in to a 22nd minute, however a late fight back from the Shrews left City empty handed.
Former Stafford Rangers man Guy Madjo levelled with just seven minutes remaining before the visitors secured all three points with a well taken winner in the final minute.
Academy keeper Danzelle St.Louis-Hamilton enjoyed a superb outing, pulling off several top draw saves in the second half.
Marc Grocott and Phillips both had chances to seal the win whilst still at 1-0, however both went agonisingly close.
Despite the defeat First team coach Mark O'Connor said he was delighted with the performance, especially the younger lads.
"I thought the likes of Nathaniel Wedderburn, Danzelle and Jimmy Grocott were fantastic.
"Louis Moult also put in a very good performance, despite being only 15 I thought he put in a very mature display.
"It's great to be able to play these younger lads in reserve games because it gives them a wealth of experience.
"Sadly, we tired towards the end but I was pleased with the performance out there."
