City put on a five-star display to thrash Barnsley at the Lyme Valley Stadium.
Chris Iwelumo scored twice in the first half with Jay Denny, Laurence Hall, and an own goal completing the rout.
Karl Henry and Ryan Hutchinson both had chances to put City in front in the opening 15 minutes, before Richard Keogh was forced off after sustaining a nasty facial injury.
The central defender required five stitches in a cheek wound and was replaced by Jay Denny.
Barnsley briefly threatened and came close to scoring when Stephen Carson's free kick hit the upright and rebounded to safety.
Iwelumo steered home Jay Denny's cross for the opening goal after 33 and added his and City's second five minutes later from a Brian Wilson cross.
Substitute Denny scored the third just before the break, reacting quickly to Iwelumo's flick.
City dominated the second half and Hall twice missed the target before scoring the fourth from Richard Johnson's quick free kick.
Wilson and Hall failed to add to the score when both had a clear sight of goal, but Peter Hoekstra and Jermaine Palmer combined to see Thomas Harban put the ball into his own net to complete City's five-star performance.
City: Senna, Wilson, Keogh (Denny), Owen, Dickinson, Hutchinson, Johnson, Henry, Hoekstra (Teague 87), Iwelumo (Palmer 66), L. Hall. Subs (not used): Duggan, Baptist.
