Andy Wilkinson continued the reserves' good run with the decisive goal to sink Wednesday at Stocksbridge Park.

The big defender glanced home a 29th minute header to make it four wins from five unbeaten Pontins League games.

City also kept a fifth successive clean sheet, although at times had to work hard to keep the home side at bay.

Goalkeeper Chris Sanna performed well, although a mixed Potters side of youth and experience had chances to make the final result more emphatic.

Sanna made an early save to deny former Manchester City striker Lee Peacock and Drew Talbot was just off target with another effort.

Wilkinson punished some slack marking when he rose high to score and loan youngster Chris Clark almost made his mark with a bobbling shot which forced a save from Chris Adamson.

Adamson made a brilliant double save to deny Clark and then Tryggvi Gudmunsson just after half-time, blocking the Icelander's follow-up when a goal seemed certain.

Craig Rocastle nearly equalised for the Owls as they upped the pressure late on and substitute Danny Reet's header almost founr the corner of the net.

City's major let-off, though, came four minutes from time when Liam Needham's 25-yarder beat Sanna but hit the crossbar.
