Stoke City 0 Huddersfield 0
Martin Paterson's disallowed goal proved to be the talking point as a strong City side were held to a draw against Huddersfield.
The lively 19-year-old was adjudged to have raised his foot to a dangerous height moments before tucking the ball away, but the decision looked harsh.
The Potters continued to dominate the encounter but a resolute Terriers side held on for the point.
Noel Blake had the luxury of naming a strong squad with several first teamers all playing starring roles at the Britannia Stadium.
John Eustace captained the side while there were also places for Kevin Harper, Andy Wilkinson, Paterson and Sammy Bangoura in attack.
With the visitors naming a relatively young side, the Potters seized the early initiative and Paterson saw his powerful header rattle off a defender from Harper's cross.
Matthew Hazley was next to try his luck while Carl Dickinson couldn't add the final product to his surging run, firing wide of the mark.
Buoyed by their let off, Huddersfield gained confidence and Adnan Ahmed almost unpicked the City defence with a measured effort.
Chris Brandon also tested Rob Duggan with a teasing shot, which left City thankful for the half time whistle.
But the hosts regained their control of the game with Bangoura and Paterson causing problems for the Terriers rearguard.
Paterson fired across the face of goal and Bangoura could only find the side netting as the Potters were left frustrated.
And not even a late burst from emerging talent Marc Grocott could as Huddersfield held on.
