An entertaining 90 minutes at Barnsley's Academy saw City's second eleven pick up a well deserved point.

Young striker Keith Thomas put the Potters ahead early on but goals from Nathan Jarman and Ryan Coulson turned the game in the home side's favour before an own goal from Luke Potter ensured a share of the spoils.

The game was switched from the Tykes' Oakwell ground after the pitch was deemed waterlogged following heavy overnight rain.

City started the brighter of the two teams and took a deserved lead when Keith Thomas exquisitely flicked Peter Sweeney's cross over the 'keeper Kevin Letheren after only ten minutes.

However, barely a minute later, Barnsley equalised when a neat one-two between Jarman and Nicky Wroe led to Jarman crashing home a thunderous strike from 20-yards.

Winger Sweeney's involvement in the game ended after only 21 minutes as a precautionary measure after complaining of a back problem.

But chances continued to be created by both sides; however, it was Barnsley who took the lead midway through the first-half.

The impressive Jarman was again the catalyst as he delivered a teasing ball across the City backline which found the unmarked Coulson, who tapped the ball home.

But, the Potters then grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck with both Dave Brammer and Matt Hazley testing Letheren with long-range strikes.

And just 40 seconds after the restart, an own goal - scored ironically by the name of Potter, drew City level.

A deep cross was launched in by Hazley and the ball ricocheted from a Brammer shot into the path of the unfortunate defender, who accidentally flicked the ball into his own net.

Noel Blake's side should have snatched the win on the stroke of the final whistle, but Thomas fired straight at the Letheren when through on goal.
